Terms of service

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and oruk, Inc. (“oruk”), a Delaware corporation headquartered in California, United States. By creating an account, using an API key, or otherwise using the website at oruk.ai or the API at speech-api.oruk.ai (the “Service”), you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you can bind that organization.

2. The Service

The Service provides speech models over a versioned HTTP API: English transcription, multilabel emotion detection, speaking-style classification, and unified analysis. The current models, endpoints, limits, and prices are documented at oruk.ai/docs and oruk.ai/models. Models marked “Preview” may change or be withdrawn; models marked “Stable” follow the deprecation notices published in the model catalog.

3. Accounts and API keys

You must provide accurate account information and keep it current. API keys are secrets: you are responsible for all usage under your keys, and you must not share keys or embed them in client-side code. Keys can be revoked at any time from the developer portal. We store keys in a non-recoverable form and cannot recover a lost key.

4. Plans, trials, and billing

Self-serve subscriptions include a monthly audio allowance at the prices shown on the pricing page and confirmed at checkout. Monthly plan fees are paid monthly. Annual plan fees are paid upfront for a year, at a 20% discount to twelve monthly payments. Included minutes reset monthly on either billing schedule and do not roll over. Additional audio usage is billed monthly at your plan’s published rate. The current usage rates are shown in the pricing documentation.

Standard signup continues to secure checkout and starts a seven-day free trial with the trial allowance shown for your selected plan. Nothing is charged when that trial starts. Unless you cancel before it ends, the selected monthly or annual plan fee is charged to your payment method, and the subscription renews on that schedule until cancelled. A valid promotional code may provide a different trial duration and allowance, displayed before signup. A no-card promotional trial ends automatically if no payment method is added; adding a payment method allows it to continue as a paid subscription at the displayed rate. Trials cannot incur overage charges.

On paid plans, the default monthly extra-usage spending limit equals the monthly plan fee, or its discounted monthly equivalent on annual billing. The annual upfront payment is not the monthly spending limit. You can raise or lower the limit, remove it, or turn off extra usage from your account. Requests pause when the included allowance, any available prepaid credits, and permitted extra-usage budget run out.

Manage your plan, payment details, invoices, and cancellation from your account. Cancelling during the trial prevents its plan charge. Cancelling a paid subscription stops renewal at the end of the monthly or annual period already paid for; access continues through that period. Cancellation does not issue an automatic refund. New self-serve usage is offered through subscriptions. Existing purchased balances remain available under their agreed terms and do not expire and are non-refundable except where required by law. Promotional or trial credits have no cash value and may expire. If you previously enabled automatic credit recharge, your existing authorization permits oruk to charge the saved payment method for the amount you select when the available balance reaches your selected threshold. You can disable automatic recharge before a new charge is initiated. Refunds, reversals, and chargebacks may remove the corresponding credits from your ledger, including when some credits have already been used.

5. Your content

You retain all rights to the audio you submit and the outputs you receive. You grant oruk only the limited license needed to process your audio and return results. As described in the privacy policy, oruk does not store your audio or outputs and does not use them to train models unless you explicitly agree otherwise in writing.

6. Acceptable use

You must have all rights and consents required to submit audio to the Service, including any consent required from recorded speakers under applicable recording, biometric, and data-protection laws in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for how you use emotion and speaking-style outputs, including compliance with laws that restrict emotion recognition in specific contexts (for example, workplaces or education under the EU AI Act).

You must not use the Service to break the law, to surveil people without a lawful basis, to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on a person without human review, or to probe, disrupt, or overload the Service. We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access that violates this section.

7. Disclaimers

Model outputs are probabilistic estimates, not facts. Emotion and speaking-style labels describe acoustic patterns in speech; they are not medical, psychological, or forensic assessments and must not be used as the sole basis for any consequential decision. The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, oruk is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for all claims arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amounts you paid oruk in the twelve months before the claim arose.

9. Indemnification

You will indemnify and hold oruk harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the Service in violation of these terms, or your violation of applicable law, including claims that you lacked the rights or consents required for audio you submitted.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, for nonpayment, or if required by law, with notice where practicable. Sections 5 and 7 through 11 survive termination.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in San Francisco, California have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of these terms or the Service.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date, and account holders will be notified by email before changes that reduce their rights take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Questions go to access@oruk.ai.
