Algarve Conservation Effort Increases Rare Breed Population
Livestock breeders in the Algarve region of southern Portugal have increased the population of a rare cattle species to 47 specimens in 2025. This follows a conservation effort that began with only five specimens during the pandemic period. The success of the recovery effort was noted by the president of the Azcal association.
