Guatemalan Workers Granted Bereavement Leave
Guatemalan workers will be granted three days of bereavement leave following the death of a spouse, partner, parents, siblings, or grandparents. The government announced it will appeal the law to the Supreme Court. The reform modifies Article 61 of the Labor Code.

“En el caso del fallecimiento de los hermanos y de los abuelos. Es un derecho universal para todos los trabajadores una vez que podamos aprobar esta importante iniciativa de ley. La reforma se realizaría al numeral 1 de la literal Ñ del artículo 61 del Código de Trabajo, el cual quedaría de la siguiente manera: Cuando ocurriere el fallecimiento del cónyuge o la persona con la cual estuviese unida de hecho el trabajador o de los padres, hijos, abuelos o hermanos, se otorgarán tres días.”
