Kangxi Offers Amnesty To Rebels

Historical accounts of Geng Jingzhong are mixed, with some describing him as ambitious and others suggesting he was emboldened by Sun Yanling's revolt. Kangxi initially predicted the rebellion would be quelled in eight months but adjusted his strategy towards Sun Yanling and Geng Jingzhong, offering clemency for their past offenses. Kangxi's overtures to Geng Jingzhong included appeals to his family's history and contributions to the court.
