Russia to Regulate Cryptocurrency Transactions

Russian authorities are defining the framework for cryptocurrency regulation. The government has approved draft bills concerning cryptocurrency circulation, while also warning of potential fines for illegal operations. The Moscow Exchange (Mosbirzha) intends to commence cryptocurrency operations starting in 2027. In 2025, over $182 million was lost due to an increase in scam cases involving cryptocurrency transfers. Russian authorities are considering gradual convergence of cryptocurrency and Central Bank Digital Currency circulation.
