BP Trading Profits Rise To $2.5 Billion
BP's Customer and Products Division reported profits of $2.5 billion, an increase from $103 million the previous year. The division includes the company's oil trading unit. UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves stated these results justify the government's extension of the energy profits levy on oil and gas producers. Reeves told parliament that BP and other energy companies remain to the UK energy mix. Oil is currently trading at approximately $110 per barrel. BP reported that its adjusted net profit from trading activities reached $3.203 billion for the quarter.
