Algoma Steel Reports $160 Million Loss
Algoma Steel reported a loss of nearly $160 million in the first quarter. The company attributed the loss to U.S. tariffs and its transition to electric arc steelmaking. Production from its second electric furnace is expected to begin by the third quarter.
