Professor Komi Wolou has launched an appeal for unity among the entire Togolese opposition, stating that internal conflict prevents ending the country's decades-long dictatorship. This comes after multiple past attempts by the opposition to unite have failed.

A new coalition of four major opposition parties in Togo, named the National Framework for Consultation for Change, held its first meeting in Lomé. The coalition aims to restart protests against the constitution adopted in 2024.

He is suspected of sending these images to members of the Togolese diaspora, specifically members of the M66 group. Afeccio had been under judicial control since December after serving one year in prison.

The National Convergence for Democracy (ANC), led by opposition figure Jean-Pierre Fabre, has denounced the ten-day detention of poet Sitsopé Sokpor, also known as Affection, in Togo. The detention was reported by RFI Afrique.

Opposition figure Afeccio has been in detention for ten days in Togo. Opposition figure Kabé was arrested in late April while taking photographs near a construction site close to his parents' home. Jean-Pierre Fabre, president of the ANC, described the arrest as abusive incarceration and harassment. The ANC has questioned whether the site is a restricted area or if the arrest involves national defense secrets. The opposition party has denounced the detention of a Togolese poet.

Representatives from the ECOWAS sub-region, European nations including France, and the Alliance of Sahel States met in Lomé, Togo, to define a new strategy for the Sahel crisis. The meeting addressed concerns regarding regional contagion and the consequences of instability in Mali. Participants included representatives from the Alliance of Sahel States to facilitate diplomatic dialogue. The meeting follows increasing pressure from jihadist armed groups moving toward the south into neighboring countries like Benin and Togo. Participants discussed regional security responses to the shifting threat landscape.

Togolese Finance Minister Simsek stated on April 27 that the government has designated 2026 as a year for reform.
