Saudi Arabia Expands Services For Hajj Pilgrims
Authorities in Mecca are implementing new construction and technology projects to manage pilgrim crowds at the Grand Mosque. The upgrades include expanding the Mataf area, developing infrastructure for electricity, water, and sewage, and installing smart crowd management systems. These measures aim to improve safety and service capacity during peak religious periods. The second phase of development at the Grand Mosque has added 6,000 square meters to the site. This follows the completion of over 30,000 square meters during the first phase last Hajj season. The total developed area now exceeds 66,000 square meters. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is implementing several initiatives to enhance the experience for pilgrims in Mecca and Medina. More than 38 Nusuk Care centers are operating 24 hours a day across Mecca, Medina, and the holy sites to provide direct services using national staff.
