Romanian Mobile Caravan Aids Children in Rural Areas

A mobile caravan project initiated in 2019 is providing services to children in Oltenia, Romania. This initiative was developed because previous workshops, where children were only observed, yielded no results due to limited financial resources, lack of education, or parental involvement. This caravan is reportedly the only one of its kind in Oltenia, with another existing in Bucharest. In 2019, a project was initiated to establish mobile dental clinics in communities with a number of children. The first clinic, funded by internal resources and sponsorships, was inaugurated in Mihaiesti commune in 2021. A second clinic was established in Budesti commune through an NGO project call. In communities where the caravan stayed for about a month, 100% of the children who approached it received treatment. For most of these children, this was their first encounter with a dentist.
