WHO Director-General To Supervise Hantavirus Ship Arrival In Tenerife
Dutch citizens returning from the cruise ship Hondius will immediately undergo six weeks of home quarantine. Christian Landbauer, identified as being from 'the organization,' stated that the virus is only dangerous to the infected person. The ship and crew reported that increased cleaning and disinfection procedures are currently underway. Dozens of passengers on the Hantavirus-infected cruise ship are preparing to anchor off the Canary Islands this weekend for quarantine. The pathogen is a specific Hantavirus strain capable of human-to-human transmission through very close contact. Patients are being treated in clinics located in the Netherlands, South Africa, and Switzerland. Singapore's National Public Health Laboratory detected no Hantavirus, including the Andes strain, in two individuals.
