Zhu Meilin, born in Mauritius in 1911, helped his father in their grocery store from a young age. His grandson, who served as Mauritius' ambassador to China, facilitated investments in port, tourism, and financial services. Zhu Meilin, a Chinese immigrant, left his father's protection at a young age and set up a stall near the Central Market in Port Louis, starting his first entrepreneurial venture. His grandfather had excellent foresight and, with a small amount of capital, opened his first retail store in his early twenties.

Mauritius and Madagascar have canceled overflight permits for the Taiwanese President's upcoming trip to Europe. The cancellation of these permits has delayed the scheduled travel.

A South African Airways Boeing 777 exploded and caught fire during its approach to Mauritius. The aircraft departed from Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan before the incident occurred. All 140 passengers on board were killed in the crash. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and subsequent explosion.
