Sébastien Saoué Breaks Two-Hour Marathon Barrier

An Ethiopian athlete has established a new world record in running. He pulled ahead of Ethiopian runner Jomov Kacelsa shortly before the finish line. Athlete Sebastian Sarway has completed a marathon in under two hours. The achievement occurred on a course described as not being one of the quickest compared to Berlin or Chicago. The second-place finisher also recorded a time near the two-hour mark. Ethiopia's Tix to Asifah also broke the women's world record during the same event. The achievement was described as unexpected due to the controlled environment and weather variables. The achievement follows historical context where Eliud Kipchoge broke the two-hour barrier in a non-official, sponsored event in Vienna in 2016. The course was described as having official paces and no other competitors on the track to ensure perfect conditions.

Troop Mobilization Reported in Northern Ethiopia

Regional authorities in Tigray accuse the federal government in Addis Ababa of disrupting essential public services. Different groups within the country are experiencing escalating friction. A former Tigray war combatant, Selam, reported issues regarding military leadership's treatment of women during the conflict. These internal and regional pressures are complicating the political landscape ahead of the vote. She stated that talented and educated women were treated as lesser by integrated armed forces leaders. Peace deal implementation is seen as a potential way to resolve tensions between regional leadership and the Addis Ababa administration, though fears of conflict remain. Paleontologists Validate Abel Rostralopithecus Skeleton

A 3-million-year-old female skeleton, named Célam, has been discovered in Ethiopia's Rift Valley. Researchers have validated the discovery of the Aurine Tuguenin 6 skeleton. The specimen is not an Australopithecine as it lacks a diastema between the canine and premolar. The femur shows clear bipedal characteristics and is longer than the Lucy specimen. The teeth are more moderate in size compared to the large teeth found in Lucy. One specimen, named Aurorine, is an ancient biped dating back approximately 6 million years. Researchers identified the specimen as Abel, a rostralopitec found west of the Awash River. The specimen is dated to approximately 3.3 million years ago and is considered a cousin to the Lucille lineage. Researchers have identified the first Rostralopithecus specimen, named Abel, in the West.
