Virtual Wind Measurement Devices Reduce Deployment Time To Three Months
A virtual side-wind tower device has been deployed in Zhangye, Gansu province, to support renewable energy stability. The technology allows for continuous meteorological data collection with a data acquisition rate exceeding 99 percent. Traditional physical wind towers are noted for high costs, long construction cycles, and potential data inaccuracies due to complex terrain. The new virtual devices can be deployed within three months to assist in energy production and scheduling. The wind measurement device utilizes laser reflection frequency changes via a 350-meter high physical tower equipped with 24 side-wind units. The devices utilize a laser generator to reflect off atmospheric aerosols to collect data with a 99 percent acquisition rate.
