The ferry ship Marini Levante struck a dock at the port of Zakynthos during docking maneuvers. Fierce winds caused the vessel to be pushed onto the dock while completing the Kilini-Zakynthos route. The ship was carrying 679 crew members.

A magnitude 4.4 earthquake occurred in Greece. The earthquake's epicenter was located in the sea, approximately 40 kilometers southwest of the island of Zakynthos. The tremor was felt across several Ionian islands and parts of western mainland Greece. No tsunami warning has been issued.
