Urn Field Discovered Near Südlink Power Line
Archaeologists have recovered a series of clay jars, believed to be ancient burial vessels, during construction of the Süd-Link power line in Witzenhausen, North Hesse. The discovery follows a 120-year-old handwritten report from the State Office for Monument Preservation regarding previous excavations in the area. Modern scientists are currently analyzing the vessels for new information. The find occurred within the fields of the construction site. An urn field was discovered approximately 750 meters from a previous archaeological find during the construction of the Südlink power line. The discovery suggests the area was a habitat for the Werra people. Reporter Thomas Corella reported on the millennia-old burial urns found at the site.
