Hong Kong Sludge Incinerator To Process 3,000 Tons Daily
A new self-sufficient sludge incineration facility and environmental planning center in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong, is expected to handle 3,000 tonnes of waste per day once fully operational. This capacity represents approximately 27% of Hong Kong's total daily solid municipal waste, which is estimated at 11,000 tonnes. The facility is scheduled to begin its first phase of trial operations in December. The site joins existing installations like the T Park facility opened in 2016 to support waste-to-energy initiatives. The I Park 1 facility is scheduled for a first-phase trial in December and will eventually handle 3,000 tons of waste daily, representing 27% of Hong Kong's total municipal solid waste. The government's resource circulation policy aims to achieve zero landfill by 2035 through integrated waste management facilities.
