Rescue Attempt Underway For Stranded Whale Near Pölen

The Humbug vessel has been lifted from the shallow seabed of the Thyia Bay area. A private initiative is attempting to transport a 12-meter-long whale from Schwerin to the North Sea. The rescue plan involves swimming the whale using a water-filled crane. The mission will proceed via the Kattegat toward Denmark, and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Ministry of Environment has granted approval for the attempt. Human rights organizations previously noted the political persecution of Anjay Potschorbut, a Sakharov Prize winner, in Belarus. Rescuers made progress in the attempt to save a sperm whale stranded in the Baltic Sea. The operation involves a 50-meter long dock filled with water to facilitate the whale's transport. The rescue mission is expected to take several days to cover a distance of more than 400 kilometers. The whale weighs approximately 12 tons.
