Hundreds of people attended a job fair in Targu Jiu today to discuss employment opportunities. Participants included former employees of the Oltenia energy complex and economic agents who accessed funds through the Just Transition program. The event was organized by the Gorj Agency for Employment, according to director Romeo Chiriac. The fair follows the initiation of the coal mine closure process in the region. Available positions include welders, locksmiths, mechanics, and unskilled laborers. The recruitment effort targets individuals from the 500 to 1,400 people recently laid off, including many from the Turceni area. Organizers are specifically seeking qualified construction engineers and assemblers. A job fair was held in Targu Jiu, offering over 8,200 positions from 104 small and medium-sized enterprises.
