Chinese Minority Villages Feature Unique Architecture
The Yongji Bridge in Chengyang, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Guangxi, is the largest and best-preserved wind-rain bridge in China. Wind-Rain Bridges, also known as Yongji bridges, are a representation of traditional Chinese architectural art. These unique structures offer shelter and serve as cultural landmarks. Efforts are underway to protect and showcase these historical constructions. The Chengyang eight villages, including Majuan, Yingzhai, and Pingzhai, are home to over ten thousand Dong people. These villages feature unique architectural elements, such as protruding structures called 'wolf ribs' and decorative patterns on the roof. The upper section is made of dyed blue cloth, with decorations including coins and rice bones, and auspicious flowers.
