Private Team Attempts To Move Stranded Whale

Environmental officials in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have approved a plan to rescue a stranded whale near the island of Pöhl. The operation involves using a 100-meter long trench dug into a water-filled barge to transport the whale to the North Sea. The initiative is being managed as a private-sector concept with government oversight. The removal of a stranded humpback whale off the coast of Insel Pöhl is scheduled to begin today. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Environment Minister Baghaus of the SPD stated that two veterinarians examined the whale and deemed it fit for transport. A private rescue team is attempting to move a stranded bowhead whale near the island of Pöl in the Baltic Sea. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Environment Minister Till Backhaus stated that a recent veterinary assessment confirmed the animal is fit for transport. The whale has been stranded for 29 days.
