Glacier Collapse Threatens Area Near Bietschorn
A portion of the Birghe glacier in the Lechental valley, Valais region, broke away on Wednesday, May 24. Millions of cubic meters of ice, mud, and rock flattened the village of Platin. The event resulted in 302 people losing their homes.
