New Hantavirus Case Found On Cruise Ship
Authorities have confirmed or suspected seven coronavirus cases on a cruise ship, including three deaths involving Dutch and German passengers. The Spanish health minister reported that remaining passengers on the MV Hondius show no symptoms. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed three cases of Hantavirus following medical analysis of a patient hospitalized in South Africa since the weekend. Two medical aircraft carrying suspected patients evacuated from the ship departed approximately thirty minutes ago. The evacuation follows a rise in reported cases. The Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital in Tenerife reported that its UATAM unit was not yet available for the outbreak, but expects availability within 24-48 hours. There are 16 other units across the territory, including 8 in Gómez.

Spanish Health Minister Monika Garcia announced a cruise ship carrying passengers potentially exposed to Hanta virus will dock in Granadilla de Arona, Tenerife, on Saturday. Passengers will disembark and undergo medical examinations before being returned to their home countries. The repatriation process will follow a European civil protection protocol, with specialized provisions for both medical treatment and transport. The ship is expected to use a secondary port in Granadilla de Arona to facilitate the operation. José Antonio López Guerrero stated that patients must receive clinical care as quickly as possible.
