Carl Wilson is declaring victory in a special election for a city council district on Manhattan's west side. Wilson held a commanding lead over opponent Lindsey Boylan in election night tallies. Boylan, who received Mayor Mabdonni's endorsement, conceded after polls closed. The results will now proceed to ranked choice counting, which could take another week to finalize. Boylan conceded the race after polls closed following Mayor Mamdani's endorsement. The final count is not yet complete because no candidate secured more than 50% of the vote. With approximately 99% of ballots counted, Wilson holds about 43% of the vote. His main opponent, Lindsay Boylan, conceded defeat following the results. Election officials are not expected to formally declare a winner until next week.
