Portugal has 338 beaches with Blue Flag certification this year, a decrease of six compared to the previous year. The Blue Flag Association announced the figures during the opening of the swimming season. The Praia de Mira is the only beach to receive this distinction during the program's 40th anniversary. The program marks 40 years of the Blue Flag distinction. The President of the European Blue Flag Association reported 438 Blue Flag beaches this year. This figure is lower than the previous year, which the president attributed to specific weather conditions during the last bathing season. The association stated the decrease is a punctual situation rather than a concerning trend. The year 2027 will introduce new criteria and a different methodology for the designation.

The Teatro Popular Mirandês will launch its first biennial event to preserve local folk stories and traditional customs in Miranda do Douro. Scholar António Garcia stated the exhibition aims to value and disseminate popular theater and new cultural manifestations.
