Researchers at USET Leven and CAU Leven have developed a new technique to identify perpetrators of sexual assault in cases previously considered impossible. The technology extends the window for establishing DNA profiles from 48 hours to at least five days after sexual contact. This development is described as a world first. Previously, establishing a profile was nearly impossible if cell samples were collected more than 48 hours after an assault.
