Former Russian Union Leader Dies In Prison
Video broadcasts of court proceedings showed Teryshkin lying on the floor of the courtroom. He noted that medical assistance was often unavailable, leading to instances where prisoners died without seeing a doctor. Teryshkin was sentenced in 2024 to two years in a penal colony for comments regarding the death of former Chechen leader Akhmat Kadyrov. Local publications Tibirsky Express and Sotovizhen reported on his condition. His wife reported that he suffered from a brain cyst, panic attacks, and organic personality disorder. Tyryshkin was frequently transferred between a prison colony and a psychiatric hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on February 4 following complaints of heart pain. Neither his family nor his lawyer were notified of the sudden decline in his condition. The deceased had previously been transferred from a prison in Tobolsk.
