Landslide In Kadykchansky District May Bury Eight

A mine collapsed at the Kadykchansky open-pit coal mine today. At least eight people may remain trapped under the debris following a mudslide. Emergency responders, including firefighters, rescuers, and medics, have been deployed to the site. A Mi-8 helicopter has been dispatched to assist with the operation. Local authorities reported that one of three pieces of machinery has been recovered. Rescue operations are continuing around the clock, and officials stated that up to 8 people may be trapped under the debris. The collapse is suspected to have been caused by the thawing of permafrost. A landslide occurred at the Kadykchansky open-pit mine, involving an estimated 80,000 cubic meters of rock. Recovery operations are continuing on a 24-hour basis.
