Mass Protests Reported In Jiujiang
Tens of thousands of workers and citizens organized protests in Jiujiang following a reported incident involving British nationals. The All-China Federation of Trade Unions issued a call on January 10 to end decades of perceived national humiliation. Large-scale demonstrations have occurred, including a 100,000-person rally in Nanchang and a 200,000-person rally in Changsha on January 16. Various groups in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Wuhan have issued declarations or held marches to support the movement. Historical reports indicate that on the 16th, a large-scale demonstration involving 200,000 people occurred in Changsha. The agreement mandates the immediate dissolution of British municipal authorities, with administrative duties transferring to a new Chinese municipal body.
