South Korea Finalizes Strategic Nominations for Elections
The Democratic Party of Korea has concluded its strategic nominations for three constituencies in Gyeonggi Province, including appointing Lee Gwang-jae, former governor of Gangwon Province, to Hanam-gap. Kim Nam-jun, former spokesperson, and Kim Nam-guk, former digital communication secretary, are among four individuals aiming for parliamentary seats. Attention is focused on the electoral success of candidates with backgrounds in the Blue House, as well as who will fill future roles such as the next spokesperson and senior AI future planning secretary. The party rejected the Innovation Party's demand for no nomination in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, instead selecting former Saenuri Party lawmaker Kim Yong-nam, who is also a former prosecutor. Kim was known as a critic of Cho Kuk during his time in the Liberty Korea Party, suggesting an intense contest is unavoidable.
