Pakistan Opens Six Road Routes To Iran

The Pakistani Ministry of Commerce reported that over 3,000 containers are currently waiting for transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Gwadar is located approximately 70 kilometers from the Iranian border. Over 3,000 containers intended for delivery to Iran have accumulated and their removal has already begun. Pakistan has identified Gwadar Port as a commercial corridor for Iran to facilitate goods transit. The designation follows an order from the Ministry of Commerce to utilize Gwadar and Karachi ports for Iranian trade. This initiative aims to open new commercial routes for Iran through Pakistani territory. The transit arrangement is based on a 2022 directive from the Ministry of Commerce. Pakistan's Commerce Minister stated that transit trade between Pakistan and Iran will increase due to new measures.
