Voters in the Canton of Freiburg rejected a state finance restructuring program with a 69 percent negative vote. The plan, supported by the center-right majority in the cantonal parliament, aimed to cut various subsidies. Left-wing parties including the SP and Greens, along with labor unions, initiated the referendum against the measures. Opponents argue the result indicates a need to expand rather than cut public services. The government proposed delaying automatic salary increases to achieve these savings.
