Mass Animal Deaths Reported In Brandenburg
Authorities reported that 45,000 animals died in one operation in the Oder-Spree district and over 18,000 animals died in the Märkisch-Oderland district. This brings the total number of animal disease outbreaks identified in Brandenburg to 21 this year.

German Military Service Participation Rises
More than 2,600 men applied to refuse military service in the first quarter of this year. The Reutlinger Generalanzeiger reported on whether weapons spending is being invested efficiently to increase troop combat power or if it is benefiting war profiteers. The Merkische Oder-Zeitung from Frankfurt (Oder) noted that more men are refusing service despite the advertising obligation remaining suspended.
