North Rhine-Westphalia will have approximately 17,000 fewer kindergarten care spots in the upcoming kindergarten year. Around 8,000 of these cuts will affect children under three years old, primarily impacting daycare providers. The ministry attributes this reduction to declining birth rates, though some municipalities may increase spots if necessary.
