NDA Wins Third Consecutive Term In Assam

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP is set to form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term. The coalition secured 102 seats in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. Analysts attribute the victory to strong leadership, political management, and a balance of development and identity politics. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's leadership was noted as a key factor in the results. The BJP-led NDA has secured a third consecutive term in the 126-member Assam assembly. The BJP won 82 seats, while allies Borderland People's Front and Assam Gana Prarishad secured 10 and 9 seats respectively. This result surpasses the 64-seat majority mark required for governance. The report indicates 121 seats were won by the alliance. This follows the recent election results in the state.
