Buynaksk's Historical Military Significance Discussed
The city of Buynaksk in Dagestan, Russia, is noted for its historical military importance. An old, single-story house at the intersection of Lenin and Khizroyev streets once served as the headquarters for a cavalry regiment in the mid-19th century. Despite perceptions of being uninteresting, the city holds historical sites. Previously, the city was known as Timerhan Shura, meaning 'Khan Timur's Lake,' referencing a legend of Timur (Tamerlane) having a camp by a lake on the city's site.
