German organizations Archimedes and Kinderherzen have established medical support in Eritrea despite access difficulties. The founder of the association continues these medical efforts at over 80 years old. One case involved a newborn with ten toes who underwent surgery to achieve a complete recovery. Ultrasound examinations have since become routine for these patients. A German team of pediatric cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and specialized nurses is performing surgery on a 13-year-old boy with a heart valve defect. The medical goal of the operation is to ensure the child achieves a complete recovery immediately following the procedure. The organization Arche is assisting with hospital technology and staff training. The report noted that local medical resources were insufficient to treat a child with a heart condition without German intervention.
