Anivier Residents Approve New Zoning Plan
Residents of the Anivier commune in Valais approved a new zoning plan with a 68% majority vote. The plan reclassifies several building zones back into agricultural zones. The vote took place in Zinal where 350 people gathered. Commune president David Melli described the outcome as a relief after years of work. The decision follows the Land Use Planning Act (LAT) vote held 13 years ago. The vote follows 13 years of debate regarding the Territorial Planning Act. David Melli, president of the Anivier commune, stated that a legislative decision will allow the municipality to control construction in the Val d'Anivier for the coming years. Melli noted that the executive branch's role is to apply federal law following the referendum. An opponent claimed the decision prevents a family from bequeathing land to children, but Melli did not validate that view.
