Death Of Former Ambev, AB InBev CEO Carlos Brito Announced

Carlos Brito, a prominent figure in the anti-fascist resistance and former leader of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), died this Thursday at age 93. He had been hospitalized at Faro Hospital. The Presidency's website noted his firm convictions during his life. President António José Seguro described Brito as an essential figure of the anti-fascist resistance. Brito was married to former communist leader Zita Seabra and was an author of poetry and fiction. He had previously stated he would only return to the party if it abandoned Marxist-Leninist lines and democratic centralism. Carlos Brito, a leader of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), died yesterday at his home in the Council of Alcoutim at the age of 93. Brito was imprisoned for eight years, tortured by the PIDE, and participated in a escape from Aljube. He was also the PCP-backed candidate for the 1980 presidential elections.
