Swiss Environmental Agency Addresses Wastewater Plant
Switzerland is experiencing a trend of consolidating wastewater treatment plants, with fewer but larger and more efficient facilities being built. The canton of Aargau has seen nearly 100 such plants built since the 1980s, and in a few years, it is expected to have only a quarter of that number. The Aargau environmental department is working to reduce emissions from a planned wastewater treatment plant. A resident expressed concern about the large scale of the proposed facility, which would require several hectares of land. The department acknowledges the need for a wastewater plant but is facing criticism regarding its size.
