Hacker Charged In Massive Data Breach

A recent investigation into password manager Bitwarden found no evidence that end-user vault data was accessed or at risk. Affected entities include telephone operators, insurers, and approximately 60 sports associations. Cybersecurity expert Clément Domingo noted that many security vulnerabilities are decades old. French authorities report that data belonging to citizens may have been leaked following a cyberattack on the National Agency for Secure Titles (NTS) ten days ago. The NTS website, used for identity document and driver's license applications, was reportedly still under attack until yesterday. This incident follows a series of breaches earlier this year affecting various organizations including the National Education system, the police, and several private companies. The report noted that hacking of Contenlink and Âme Sonnage remain major threats. These threats affect individuals, small and medium enterprises, and local authorities. The situation is described as concerning but not yet causing panic. The individual allegedly offered between 12 and 18 million lines of data from the National Agency for Secure Titles for sale two weeks ago. The stolen data included millions of names, addresses, and phone numbers. The suspect faces up to 7 years in prison and a 300,000 euro fine.
