Germany To Implement Digital Boarding Passes In Summer
Germany has launched a pilot program for a new digital sovereignty platform involving over 80,000 users and eight different vendors. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on foreign technology by consolidating services onto a single unified platform. A full federal rollout of the system is currently scheduled for 2027. German Federal Minister Schneider announced that air travelers in Germany can switch to fully digital check-in processes starting this summer. Passengers will be able to present only their mobile phones during airport boarding procedures. The announcement followed a meeting of the federal cabinet.
