Chipsoft Reports Destruction Of Stolen Patient Data
Software provider Chipsoft announced that patient data stolen earlier this month has been destroyed. The company did not state whether a ransom was paid to the hacker group Mbargo. Chipsoft provides systems used by general practitioners. The data breach was initially reported at the beginning of the month when Mbargo threatened to release the information. The hacker group had threatened to release the data but withdrew the threat during negotiations, according to the report. The company had previously confirmed to the NOS that it was negotiating with the group. The company stated that the stolen data has been destroyed, though it did not specify if any payment was made to facilitate this.
