China Builds 350-Meter Laser Wind Measurement Tower
A new virtual wind measurement device allows for the deployment of wind power plant infrastructure in just three months. Engineers have constructed a 350-meter physical wind tower equipped with 24 sets of side-wind measurement devices. The technology uses laser-based aerosol reflection to achieve a 99 percent data acquisition rate. The system utilizes laser reflection frequency changes to measure wind. The hardware features specialized designs to withstand wind, sand, and extreme temperature fluctuations in field environments. The laser generator is housed within a precision-protected glass window to ensure functionality in outdoor settings.
