Dutch Railways To Use AI For Energy Savings
The Netherlands Railways (NS) is implementing artificial intelligence to reduce electricity consumption. The system will optimize power usage by intelligently accelerating and decelerating trains. This initiative aims to reduce energy consumption by 5 to 6 percent. The project is currently in the experimental phase with a completion target of late 2026. The energy savings are estimated to be equivalent to the total consumption of a city like Leeuwarden.
