China Deploys First Police Robot

An automated rebar welding robot has been developed to handle the entire process from material feeding, forming, to welding. A new 10,000-ton clean resin smelting base was completed in 2024 in Weiyuan, Sichuan, to address the challenges of low-grade iron ore in China's steel industry. The robots are designed to handle variations in dimensions, angles, and rebar placement, which are difficult to mass-produce on assembly lines, thus replacing traditional manual methods. Data center expansion has led to a five-fold increase in rack numbers over two years, prompting the construction of dedicated power stations using wind and solar energy. It also features an alarm function that connects directly to the command system for timely police dispatch. The robot is designed to handle repetitive tasks, freeing up human officers for more complex duties requiring judgment.
