Internet Archive Fixes 15 Million Broken Links
The Internet Archive has repaired over 15 million broken links on Wikipedia. They have also prioritized and acquired books referenced on Wikipedia that were previously inaccessible due to paywalls or login requirements. Robots are collecting a billion URLs, with over a hundred employees working to maintain the archives. The organization is also involved in a legal battle with book publishers over the archiving of eBooks, questioning if it constitutes digital piracy. Internet Archive founder Brewster Kale addressed the need to replace aging spinning disk storage to preserve collective history. The initiative aims to ensure long-term digital preservation.
