Meta Plans Multi-Billion Dollar Data Center Expansion

Meta intends to invest between $125 billion and $145 billion in AI infrastructure this year. This represents an increase of $10 billion over previous announcements. The company is increasing spending to meet rising demand for storage and computing resources. Other major technology firms are also reportedly increasing their expenditures in this sector. The company reported profits of nearly $27 billion, a 60% increase from the previous year. This profit growth was partially aided by an $8 billion tax credit. Meta also announced plans to lay off 8,000 employees in the coming weeks and will not refill thousands of other positions. Approximately 3.5 billion people globally use at least one Meta application. The company disclosed this intention during its quarterly earnings presentation. The company reported that earnings before interest and taxes fell by 5.6 percent to approximately 2.3 billion euros. BASF cited negative currency effects and lower prices as reasons for the decline.
