Singapore Expands Company Training Committees To Address AI Disruptions
Singapore plans to expand the Company Training Committee (CTC) approach to address labor disruptions caused by artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to help workers learn new skills to remain relevant as job roles evolve. The expansion follows what officials described as concrete results from the existing CTC model. Prime Minister Wang noted that unions and employers can drive AI adoption to support growth and job quality. The Prime Minister cited examples of Community Development Councils (CDCs) in action at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong stated that stronger collective action with the labour movement is required to face disruptions such as artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to ensure no Singaporean is left behind during economic shifts.
