Tesla Semi Enters High-Volume Production
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed during the Q1 2026 earnings call that the company has started production of its Cybercab robotaxi. Musk cautioned that initial output levels will be slow before the company begins ramping up production later this year. This move marks a significant step in Tesla's transition toward autonomous transport services. This release fulfills a commitment made during a 2024 presentation to begin production in the second quarter. The vehicle is designed for complete autonomy without manual controls. The vehicle was previously described during a 2024 presentation as having a target price of less than $30,000. The vehicle is expected to enter production in the second half of 2025. During a 2024 presentation, Musk stated the car would cost less than $30,000.
